Our client seeking a Project Manager to lead design & build projects (ideally with retail sector or tenant fit-out experience) from concept through to completion. You will oversee integrated delivery, coordinating design and construction teams, while delivering projects on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. Supported by Heads of Commercial and Delivery, this initially temporary role offers potential for permanency in a dynamic, small-team environment with strong growth opportunities and a robust project pipeline.Key Responsibilities (summarized):
- Act as primary client interface and internal coordinator
- Manage design consultants, construction teams, and stakeholders
- Develop/maintain integrated schedules aligning design and construction
- Handle full financial management: budgeting, cost tracking, change orders, variations, risk mitigation
- Ensure quality control, regulatory compliance, site inspections, and smooth handover/commissioning
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) – for stakeholder management, client relationships, and team coordination
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen – budgeting, cost control, negotiations, identifying opportunities/risks
- Project programming/scheduling – producing and managing construction programmes using software (e.g., Asta Powerproject, MS Project)
- Leadership & people management – leading multidisciplinary teams, influence, and motivation
- Analytical & problem-solving skills – navigating complexities, decision-making, risk management
- Attention to detail and process development – implementing procedures, quality assurance
- Contract administration & negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (especially Excel and Word)
- Planning & organising – effective resource allocation and time management
- Bachelor's degree in Project/Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- 3–5 years' project management experience in design-build or integrated delivery methods (minimum 5 years preferred for senior fit)
- Construction/surveying background or qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB preferred; Quantity Surveying desirable)
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, design processes, and BIM systems
- Retail tenant fit-out experience desirable but not essential
- Customer focus, interpersonal sensitivity, adaptability to change
- Flexibility with working hours and willingness to travel
